War Comes Home At America’s Expense: The Excessive Militarization of American Policing-SWAT

This is an interesting publication. The ACLU conducts an analysis of SWAT. In the publication there is the analysis, the findings, and recommendations. Then in an Appendix there are a MOU, policy, training PowerPoint, operational plan. These documents provide a unique perspective (an insiders view) on a SWAT deployment.

I think this would be a perfect resource for Criminal Justice courses or for students reporting on SWAT or policing.

Biden wants to “reinvigorate” funding for the COPS office.

The COPS office produced some of the best publications in policing. There was a time that every month there was an exciting publication released by the COPS office. You could even receive a hard copy of the publication. With the right leadership and if it returns to producing material that is beneficial to policing the COPS office can return as a great resource.

He wants to give yet more money to a federal office that has helped facilitate abuses in policing.

Today, prostitution is illegal in the majority of the United States, but the New York State Senate has two bills looking to decriminalize prostitution throughout the state. One bill would decriminalize selling sex while maintaining punitive measures on buying or promoting sex. The other would decriminalize the entire sex trade.
