Milwaukee Collaborative Reform Initiative

In January to October of 2016 the United States Department of Justice (US DOJ) performed an assessment of the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD) and the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission (FPC). This was in response to a request by MPD Chief Flynn for the department to participate in the US DOJ Collaborative Reform Initiative in order to provide an avenue to strengthen and build the mutual trust between the MPD and the communities they serve. While due to decisions made in the US DOJ no final assessment report is likely to ever be produced from this process, a draft version of the report was made public.

Police Staffing Study – Canal Winchester, OH

The purpose of the staffing study for the City of Canal Winchester is to provide guidance to the Mayor and city legislative officials (city council) on matters concerning the desired staffing levels for law enforcement personnel assigned to patrol the city.

The study is designed to provide the City of Canal Winchester with information on the current levels of staffing (sworn personnel assigned by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office) as well as future staffing recommendations based on population, police activity, and management philosophies.

Just a Dozen of 89 NYPD Officers Responsible for Serious Misconduct During 2020 BLM Protests Have Been Disciplined – THE CITY

More than two and a half years after the NYPD’s at times violent response to the 2020 George Floyd protests, just 12 of 89 officers charged with significant misconduct by a civilian oversight board have been disciplined, according to a new report.

The Civilian Complaint Review Board released dozens of its investigative recommendations for officer discipline in a 590-page review made public Monday, which says the agency fielded over 750 complaints containing more than 2,000 allegations regarding police misconduct during the weeks of protest.

CCRB investigators fully probed 321 of those complaints and substantiated allegations of serious misconduct against 89 police officers and supervisors, many for improper use of force. 

Of them, 62 are still winding through the NYPD’s internal disciplinary process, which may include an administrative trial overseen by the police department and ultimately concludes when the NYPD commissioner decides on the outcome.
