Favorite Online Radio Stations

This is not exactly a Policing post……yet it is. When we would transport a unruly prisoner at times we would turn on classical music because “Music calms the savage beast”

Here are some of my favorite online radio stations that listen to. I like WNED because it was the first classical radio station that I listened to. WBFO on the weekends plays the Blues which gave 9 hours of great Blues music. This was before Sirius FM and Amazon Music etc…

WQXR had a quality and sophistication to the music it played. It was different from WNED. Now I like its ALL Streams options. New Standards was the Jonathan Channel which was fabulous playing Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. I like WCPE at night it is truly the Classical Station. WCRB always plays easy and enjoyable classical music. I love to listen to it especially when I’m trying to read or study. It always seems to have on great music. Lastly I like the west coast time difference and the different vibe that comes from KUSC and CPR.

Feel free to comment on your favorite station.

QPP 37: Justin Fenton – Peter Moskos

WOW another home run podcast. I’m looking forward to reading the book.

This is a discussion about corruption in the Baltimore Police Department. Professor Moskos is a terrific interviewer and the Author Justin Fenton is easy to listen to.

The discussion covers police corruption, policing in Baltimore, causes of corruption, neighborhoods, police supervision, politicians, all that circles the issue of police corruption.

The project’s overall goals were to (1) examine whether some racial groups in St. Louis County experience more frequent or burdensome police contact than other groups; (2) identify factors that contribute to any existing racial disparities and the extent to which these factors can be influenced by SLCPD; and (3) provide recommendations for actions SLCPD can take to address any identified disparities.

Biden wants to “reinvigorate” funding for the COPS office.

The COPS office produced some of the best publications in policing. There was a time that every month there was an exciting publication released by the COPS office. You could even receive a hard copy of the publication. With the right leadership and if it returns to producing material that is beneficial to policing the COPS office can return as a great resource.

He wants to give yet more money to a federal office that has helped facilitate abuses in policing.
