The Tragedy of Baltimore
This is a very fair article that discusses what has happened in Baltimore since the 2015 riots.
Sad.
MacGillis note how the riot is considered an uprising by some, the crime and homicide rates, $14 million cost to the State for the riot, the Ferguson Effect, police backing off enforcement, costs to families, changing and ineffective police leadership, under-policing the riots, Mosby being overzealous arresting the officers, the “pullback”, Crime increasing, 30% homicide closure rate, DOJ Report, DOJ Ignorance of local realities, political focus NOT on enforcing the law, city population near a 100 year low, new rules restricting police, community activism, Det. Sean Suiter, cops leaving the PD, officers overworked, Mayor Pugh ignoring the problem, still no police leadership, criminals EMBOLDENED, use of force reports, and the cry for equal protection.
One thing MacGillis forgot to note the infamous words of Mayor Rawlings-Blake:

American flag graphic on police cars divides California town | WCIV
A police car. The word “Police” colored with the American Flag patter. Too Aggressive???
What about a American Flag decal? Too Aggressive?
This is crazy. Don’t entertain these nonsensical complaints.
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (AP) — An American flag graphic on the side of freshly painted police cars is dividing a small coastal city in Southern California. Some people in Laguna Beach feel the flag design is too aggressive while others are astonished that anyone would object to the American flag, The Los Angeles Times reported Saturday. The city council will decide at its Tuesday meeting whether to keep the logo or choose an alternative.

Seattle is Dying
This is a must see documentary that shows how the quality of life in a city can collapse when homelessness, drug use and addiction, and mental health issues take over neighborhoods. The documentary illustrates how bad neighborhood conditions become when laws are not enforced, police are handcuffed, citizen voice are not heard, the criminal justice system fails (prosecutors and courts) and politicians don’t work to protect the community.
Below is a link to an article in national review ‘What if Seattle Is Dying, and We Don’t Even Know It?’. The article discusses a documentary from KOMO’s (Seattle news channel) Eric Johnson that explores the impact the drug and homelessness problem is having on Seattle and possible solutions in “Seattle is Dying.”
The documentary explores topics such as: broken windows policing, quality of life, message from politicians, disgruntled police, upset citizens etc.

Stockton, California was in a rough situation when the current chief was promoted to that position in 2012.
